Course Structure
Course Structure

We aim to provide the highest level of training, and that starts with our small class sizes (maximum student-instructor ratio of 6:1) and highly-trained instructors. We offer both e-learning and instructor-led options for the knowledge development phase of your certification.

This course is executed in three phases:

  • Choose your Adventure Dives
  • Knowledge Development with eLearning.
  • Check-Out Adventure Dives from the boat.
1. Choose Your Adventures

You’ll plan your learning path with your instructor by choosing from a long list of Adventure Dives. There are two required dives – Deep and Underwater Navigation – and you choose the other three, for a total of five dives. During the Deep Adventure Dive, you learn how to plan dives to deal with the physiological effects and challenges of deeper scuba diving. The Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive refines your compass navigation skills and helps you better navigate using kick-cycles, visual landmarks and time. The other knowledge and skills you get vary with your interest and the adventures you have – photography, buoyancy control, fish identification, exploring wrecks and many more.

2. Knowledge development with eLearning

During the second phase of your PADI Advanced Open Water Diver scuba certification you'll further your knowledge on the different types of dives that you chose on phase one. Your study resources are included in the PADI eLearning program which can be taken at your own pace, anytime, anywhere.

3. Check-Out Adventure Dives

The last step in your Advanced Open Water training is the Adventure Dives that for your comfort, are 100% conducted from our boat! You'll enjoy a taste of each one of the Dive Adventures you chose. The perfect balance between diving for fun and diving for education.

*** Get credit for previous training

Each Adventure Dive may credit toward the first dive of the corresponding PADI Specialty Diver Course. If you’ve already taken a specialty diver course, ask your instructor if you’ve earned credit for an Adventure Dive. If you’re already an Adventure Diver, you only need to complete two more Adventure Dives to earn the Advanced Open Water Diver certification..
